here are all the photoetched parts that will compose the outside and inside of the 138.6 turret. The frets done to detail the gun itself are not presented on this pictur.
Please note that i will also use some platsic rivets that Mr O'Meara gave me last year :)

June 19 2008 | Working on the door

To simulate thickness I had to use some plastic for the locks.

I have ben posting those pics at modelshipwrights where friends told me that the thickness was just not looking right, but on double checking my sourced, that watertight door was no more than 1 cm thick!

No wonder the Bouvet sank in 55 seconds0

June 19 2008 | The doorway

This door will be located just behind the turret, it's in fact the escape door inside the hull of the boat. The plans are those from the Bouvet as I couldn't find any for the Masséna. no problem as the ships are almost of the same class.

Anyway, here's the metal plate that will support the door, done out of photoetch too, some bits actually are glued on it

June 19 2008 | Trimming the pieces

The pieces are being trimmed, but notice that some of them are so thin they're almost like paper. A pair of scissors and some very fine sandpaper helped.

June 17 2008 | Finishing the tube

Then just apply another thin coat of Magic Sculp so that you do the slope between each part of the tube, and that's it, you have a very beautiful gun :)

June 17 2008 | Sand!

Once it's dry (let a full night at least!) just sand gently whuile rolling the tube.
When you are happy with the result, just mount the stuff.
