May 24 2008 | The bends
Now one tricky thing -the bended surface that will be glued on the lower part of the boat. The metal plate will have to follow the curve, so better use quite a few rigid supports as show here.
May 24 2008 | Mastic on the bubble
You may have observed that there was some heat bubbles on my thermoformed bubble earlier on. Those have to dispaera, So i diluted some mastic in Acetone and applied a first coat. I am then to sand the coat once dry, and then to apply another coat until it's perfect.
Then i will have to make some good joints between all the metal pieces and this bubble, i will use some Magic Sculp for this as shown in the pictures.

May 24 2008 | The work is in progress
indeed, here are the metal parts glued on the inside of the hull, complete with the interior of each windows done -the same process as earlier on plastic
May 23 2008 | The decoration of the window
Here is one picture that shows a close up to one of the openings.
May 23 2008 | The left side of the hull is almost ready.
Here's the plastic left side of the hull ready to be glued together. Of course the bended end is not prepared yet.
Next will come the metal right side and also the gluing and mastic of the 2 sides. Quite a messy and dirty job to do.

May 23 2008 | Using some plastic
Now I used some bigger plastic lengths to reinforce the sides. the end result is quite strong.
Please also notice the round bit at the top of the window. it's the place where the chains thata re used to lower the scuttles of the ship. When i told you the boat was cool; it will end up looking like a pirate ship!

May 23 2008 | The side of the windows
So maybe you will find me a bit crazy to have design some sides out of photoetch metal to create the interior of the windows, but really i had to, so that they would sure have the same angle and the same size. So here i am gluing them with superglue.
May 23 2008 | Time to use the nice frets..
In order to decorate the vertical surfaces, I have to use my small photoetch frets.
First i will decorate the windows with all the stuff that permits the portholes to be closed: First the hinges and that weird semi round protection over the top of the opening
