December 04 2008 | New Photoetch

yep i was rather unhappy with the photoetch of the portholes and then I will have to do, some more for the gun, so i thought - better do everything in one go.
First here is the photoetch for massénas' portholes!

December 04 2008 | Once glued..

here is quite an impressive (okay, I think..) view of the turret.
Now of course most details are missing, and the reference is scarce to say the least

December 04 2008 | The gun system

So here is without details the block that will be under the gun

December 04 2008 | The lack of depth of Photoetch

The problem with photoetch is that it lacks of depth so once more I put some Magic sculp  on the inside of one of my parts to get this -depth.
I let dry a bit and cut it around.

December 04 2008 | The spring

Time to do the sort of spring that is under the gun itself, there is 2 of them.
I just used a length of plastic rod and put some thin solder around just a shown..

November 25 2008 | The gun support

As you can see I also added some plastic brown rivets courtesy of Mr Dave O'Meara at the top of the gun support.
i will soon enough start with detailing the 128.4mm gun itself!

November 25 2008 | The gun

So here is so far what I have been doing about the gun. i have been putting some Magic Sculp beneath the sides so that I could get some thickness, and while the Magic Sculp was setting, I embedded some Scale hardware rivets.
The gun itself is as you can see, un perfect, and will need some extra sanding and mastic to be alright.
Finally the piece at the top is to be fixed in front of the turret, these are the protective doors of the gun. I have been  soldering them amonths ago..
Actually, all this stuff was done in early July, just before I set to build the Galilée diorama
