June 17 2008 | Let's apply a coat of mastic

A good coat of Magic Sculp is then needed to cover the gun parts. just press on some hard surface like a bathroom tile (what i use) and roll gently until you have what you want.

June 17 2008 | Building the gun

The gun is a 138.5 mm width one, that's the biggest one I have ever been attempting, but the method is always the same.
After cutting off the tube, let's glue some platsic sheet at one of the ends of the 2 tubes whose slope i will show

Not for the diorama but for the blog!
I have at least 3 new parts to post, so better begin with what's the best I think: ie the gun tube.
So as usual I begin by cutting brass and platsic tubing at the right size

June 11 2008 | Inserting the inside of the turret in the outside

June 11 2008 | The turret

Well it is probably time to show about the turret. Now that one is finished since 15 days but I never got rond of posting the pics.
here is the photoetch fret that I used to create the floor inside the turret. i took the patern on some picture of a later boat of the Patrie class, so at 10 years time of distance, I guess the pattern should be alright.
the round sheets were cut out with my circular cutter which proves a very useful investment.

Thanks Fernando -I plan to end up this diorama around 01/09, but not before. When the Massna is finished I will have at least 3 figs to sculpt + a big sea to create etc etc.. As for a photoetching tutorial, sure but not yet, not yet, it's very long to do, and there is so many pitfalls you can fall in :) I will write soon, take care JB
