June 11 2009 | Here are the 10 stanchion supports

Those are pretty small. Next picture (or so would show them fixed near the upper portholes.

now time to do some other supports for some sort of big stanchions that are situated at every 4 small stanchions along the bridge.

June 09 2009 | Supports for the stanchions

the stanchions on the Masséna were not actually fixed on the top of the hull near the border of the bridge , but were actually fixed on the side of the boat on some supports.

So better start doing those. I cut some 3 mm high hollow brass tubing and then proceeded to weld them against a small brass plate with 1 rivet at each side that i had done before.

June 09 2009 | Gluing the photoetch parts

can't be much welding at this place, the whole is too small. Too bad about that as I really had some trouble later when i tried fixing the small chains on the top of the portholes.

this pic shows the outer part of the portholes without some of the extra plates.

June 08 2009 | Enough photoetch for massena's portholes

So this is the kind of picture I really like, here you can see ythe complete photoetched parts for ALL the portholes. now guys let's be clear, I f i succeed those, this will be a huge step in succeeding this diorama.

I already bent some supports as can be seen on the lower left of the picture. Still misses some plastci parts as well as the small chains.

June 07 2009 | The upper parts of the portholes

hey, now it's time to get this dog detailed thoroughly!

First let's fix the upper protections for the portholes, those are regular thin platsic sheets. there are 9 portholes to be done.

June 07 2009 | Bumpers for Massena's crane

On the plans they show *one* bumper, on the pics they show *2* of them.

Oh well, i did 2, I wonder in what material those could have been. Surely not metal? questions, questions..

now getting those 2 looking the same when it comes to the curve proved some nightmare, as I write the lines, those are certainly not perfect yet.

June 06 2009 | The support for the crane is fixed

Now that part proved quite lengthy to adjust, indeed I needed the thing to be ciompletely level with the  rest of the boat, and also had huge gaps to fill

June 06 2009 | Here is the upper part of the crane support

When the parts are done and dried up, I applied some extra magic sculp on the base so that i can get the curved sides as shown in the plans (but not on pictures as I was unable to find any)
