October 30 2009 | Detaling the gun

Now that gun was areal problem righht since the start. I recently realized it was probably oversized too. Whatever, I added a bit of details like for instance rivets

November 09 2009 | Priming the work

It took me a good part of my tamiya white primer spray can to end up with this.

Additionnaly wehn i started to work on that one I moticed that my workbench was not adapted to such a big boat as some parts are almost constantly in the shadows. then it's so large that i ahve some difficulties to store my paints etc..

in other words, it's not going to be that fun

November 10 2009 | That airbrush..

..is pretty great but the comprssor is completely lousy as i don't have valve to regulate the pressure, it just splashed the paint oh dear.. no problem I will as usual tyransform a visible mistake in yet another err, stunning diorama or so ;)

November 11 2009 | Another ligh beam perhaps?

This diorama is a real self parody. it will be really clear towards the end.

Anyway, here is a wonderful sandy lightbeam amidhips. I think i have been looking too much at Turner's "Burial at sea", hey i can't help absolutely loving that Brit painter.

November 12 2009 | The sea

Time to do the form of the sea (at long last)

first trying to set up the right size of the diorama.. that's one of my common mistake to doa diorama too big compared to what i want to show, and here the hotspot will be pretty small leaving around a ton of sea and metal.. I take some risks, let's hope I will be right.

let's be clear, people should like it okay as there is enough in it and about it to make it something that will stand out, but if I don't myself *love* it I will be strongly disapointed, that's till 18 months of job you see. And even though it's going to end up in the garden shed, i hope it will be on one of the shelves not hidden in some corner.

Anyway, some feather cardboard for the base

November 13 2009 | Feather cardboard

The feather cardboard is being cut at the right dimension with a long bladed cutter. I plan to make a big wave at the front of the boat, like I did on Galilée. the colours will end up being quite different in the end I hope
