November 19 2009 | Finished sea

Looks like I didn't took a lot of pictures for this one.. Anyway, the feather cardboard was vcurt at the right size, and covered in plaster so that the finished aspect would be smooth enough..

November 20 2009 | Preparing the sea form

That's it, i prepared my latex pot and set some wood pannels around the sea as I will prepare a form for the sea.

November 19 2009 | Painting the backside of the hull

So i decided to test the painting of this hull by starting with the back of the hull, so that's muy suusal wet on wet technique: first I put some water on the surface and then put some paint and blend the colours..

November 19 2009 | A bit of rust?

Now those are the effects I want to realize:

  • First the colours must be darker on the left side of the hull as the light won't be getting to there
  • It also has to be much lighter on the place where the wooden floor stops
  • Some rust but not too much
  • Light rust on the truncated bits of steel, just like if the breaker cut those only recently

November 22 2009 | The completed back?

is it the completed back? nope, it certainly lacks a bit of rust texture! that's it there is no pigment yet, I will ahve to add in some rather subtle way..

December 05 2009 | Looks like I need another breather

Lots of daytime work and tired of painting such a big hull, it's time for another breather I guess :)
